HOW TO COORDINATE YOUR CLIENTS OUTFITS WITH THEIR PARTNER

Updated: Jan 17, 2024

Ok, ok ,ok photographers, when it comes to capturing the essence of relationships, one way to elevate your couples photoshoot is by coordinating outfits with their partner. Matching outfits not only create visually appealing photos but also symbolize unity and connection. In this blog post, we'll explore tips and ideas to help your client and their partner look effortlessly coordinated and camera-ready.

Choose a Theme: Start by selecting a theme that reflects their personalities or the mood you want to convey in the photos. Whether it's a casual day in the park, a formal setting, or a beach sunset, having a theme will guide your outfit choices.

Color Coordination: Opt for a color palette that complements each other rather than perfectly matching. Sometimes contrast is good! Subtle tones or complementary colors can add depth to the photos. Avoid overly busy patterns, as they can be distracting. Earthy tones, pastels, or neutral colors work well for a cohesive look. We LOVE earth tones out here baby!

Consider the Setting: Think about the location of your photoshoot. If it's a natural setting, earthy tones might blend well, while vibrant urban environments could call for bold colors. Ensure that your outfit choices complement the surroundings.

Dress for the Season: Consider the weather and the season when planning your outfits. Out here in South Florida theres only 2 seasons... Hot & Hot and Wet. Cozy sweaters and warm tones for fall, light and breezy fabrics for summer, or layers for winter can enhance the overall aesthetic of the photos.

Mix Textures and Patterns: While solid colors are a safe bet, don't be afraid to mix in textures and subtle patterns. This adds visual interest without being too overwhelming. For example, a textured scarf or a patterned accessory can elevate your look.

Accessorize Together: Coordinating accessories can tie your outfits together. Whether it's matching hats, scarves, or jewelry, these small details can make a big impact. Just be mindful not to overdo it – simplicity often speaks volumes.

Comfort is Key: I cant restate this enough.. Ensure that you both feel comfortable in your chosen outfits. Uncomfortable clothing can affect your confidence and the overall mood of the photoshoot. Choose outfits that reflect your style while allowing you to move freely. Also.. stretchy clothes.. YES PLEASE..

Timeless vs. Trendy: While it's tempting to follow current trends, consider the longevity of your photos. Timeless, classic outfits tend to age better in photos. However, a subtle nod to current trends can add a touch of personality.

Ok, photogs... what'd we learn: Coordinating outfits for a couples photoshoot is a delightful way to enhance the visual harmony of your images. By selecting a theme, choosing complementary colors, and paying attention to details, you can create timeless photos that beautifully capture the connection between your client and their partner. Remember to have fun, allow them to be themselves, and let the love shine through the lens. Happy shooting!
